Feed Me?

I was thinking it might be a little too early to fertilize but maybe not. I was so worried about my poor purple leaved pepper plant having a deficiency that I sprinkled some complete fertilizer on it last week and now it's by far the healthiest looking of all the seedlings I've started. I might have to feed the rest of the crew...

I think I'll up pot the toms tomorrow, they're looking leggy. I'm not sure though as they don't have their first set of true leaves. What say you oh wise readers?

And lastly - sorry to everyone who got hit with snow this weekend! *sad pandas* I hope all your plants recover.

When my little tomato plants got all leggy, before they had their true leaves, I cut sections of toilet tissue rolls and slipped over them then filled the tubes with planting mix. That worked great, it allowed the plants to mature a bit before potting them up and hopefully gave them a larger root system. My cardboard tubes did kind of disintegrate when they got wet, a stronger cardboard collar would have worked better.

Granny I remember you doing that. Mine are a bit close together to fit a bog roll around each one of them... maybe I'll let them just get leggy and when their second set of leaves appear I'll repot them right up to their top leaves. I think they'll still do okay... and there's room in the pot their all in to add a bit more soil anyway. Thanks for being a good spring board to getting my brain working this morning!

You might use a very weak fertilizer dilution on them, but I'd be real careful.
