Rain barrel woes

Lies! Looks like I have a slow leak out of the front spigot - dang it. I'll have to drain it, take out the faucet bit, retape and reinstall. Not too bad considering. Should take a couple of minutes tomorrow.... just wondering now where I'm going to drain all the water off to? (Too bad my celery isn't in the ground yet! lol)

Jenn,

That is a drag. You could line a trash can with a large trash bag and drain it into that and then siphon the water back into the rain barrel. A bit a of a PITA but worth a try.

What a bummer! If anything screws together, be sure to use Teflon tape on it. Monday I got my automatic timer installed and programmed for the irrigation, and it didn't come on when it was supposed to. Turns out it helps if you have the water turned on :-D

I used plumbers tape when I put it in - clearly my plumbing skills are lacking despite the tape usage. Ah well as soon as the snow* melts I'll go deal with it.

*Where the heck did that come from?! I thought (hoped) we were well on our way to spring!

I had a rain barrel a few years ago against the house. We had a huge rain storm that overflowed the barrel and it all ended up in the basement. Big Mess.

Oh Dan, sorry to hear about your water woes! I've got a back flow regulator on this one to help prevent something like that from happening. Also I'll unhook the barrel from the gutter in the winter which should also eliminate that problem as that's when we get most of our rain.
