Death Day

I haven't done a Death Day post in a long time (happily enough!) but all this cool wet weather we're having is just wreaking some havoc on those warm weather loving plants like my Moon and Stars melon. ::cries a little bit::

It's fungualed, nibbled, has a split stem and in general looks like it's about to croak. I think I'll have to start a new one from seed and hope it isn't too late to get a harvest.

Ooooh, that does look pretty rough. I'm pretty sure the split stem isn't a real issue, though.

Oh, that is sad. It does not look good.

that really stinks!
Do you have your melons planted in hills? I guess it probably won't help much where the sun is not cooperating but any extra drainage might be just enough..?

Jenn, wet, wet, and wind and wet... whew, but the forecast (please let it be right) for the Willamette valley is for sun this weekend and boy does my garden need it. We have had lots of nice "greens" picked and including our first broccoli, but the tomatoes are indeed timid and peppers are still in pots. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Hope your storms pass soon. You could send the rain here for a short visit. We're hot and dry. Hard to believe it was snowing just a few weeks ago...
