Portland is big on recycling - even the houses! Heh...
Instead of the university knocking them down and throwing them away (they're perfectly good houses) they're going to move them across town to empty lots and resell them. These houses came from an area they're now building student dorms on. They're sitting in the blocks that soon have all the houses there moved as well and a playing field/sports complex built.

Good for Portland. I hate it when perfectly good buildings get torn down. We had a shabby old junior high in our town that was going to be demolished. The city stepped in and remodeled it for a City Hall, and it's a beautiful building with many years of useful service left.
