This n' that

For a little bit of color I splurged and bought a bit of garden art. Normally I like the flowers to have that roll but this was just so lovely I couldn't resist. Plus technically it's functional so... yeah.

Also the best thing about the garden is sharing it with my kiddo. Leg hug! (aka, "Mommy! Pay attention to me and not your plants!")

I did let her pick out a pot for an empty little spot and I got the hosta to add to it.

The pepper flat is looking much happier then last year! Made it a bit warmer and watered it less. Oh, I've also been feeding all the seedlings a liquid kelp "drink" once a week. Seems to have helped overall. I'll definitely keep that up.

Next year I just need to remember to up-pot most of the plants sooner. When do you up-pot?

Oh the birdbath is very lovely. I pot-up my seedlings about a week after the true leaves come up. I want to be sure I have a good root system going before I replant.

The bird bath is beautiful!

I pot up my plants the first time when there are two sets of true leaves, though with some of them I waited longer out of laziness! Some of them ended up root bound due to my laziness.

That bird bath is just gorgeous! I don't get the "I need attention" leg hugs anymore... Now that my LO is talking, it's, "Come Mom. Mom. Mom! Come!" LOL

Up pot? You mean transplant?
I like the idea of feeding kelp juice.

That is a gogeous birdbath! That was a good splurge.

I pot up as soon as I think the plant needs it (if I have space for the bigger size). Usually this means I can see roots coming out of the sides of my blocks. I'm hoping to not pot up too much this year. I'm trying to give them the size they need to start. I hope it works out.

My bees would love that bird bath. I put my peppers out at the size you're showing, but just because I'm lazy. Of course, it got really cold right after that. Sigh. Serves me right. I think you're right about the kelp; they are hungry plants. Mine do best with lots of feeding.

I know that hug intimately!
